US HDG exports fall 15 percent in July

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strips totaled 95,814 mt in July, down 15.0 percent from June but up 8.3 percent from July 2016 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $99.1 million in July, compared to $115.7 million in the previous month and $87.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Mexico in July with 48,471 mt, compared to 50,634 mt in June and 41,551 mt in July 2016. Other top destinations included Canada, with 45,406 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US HDG exports in July.
