US HDG exports down 57.6 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 39,165 mt in April 2020, down 57.6 percent from March and down 60.7 percent from April 2019 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $39.9 million in April, compared to $96.9 million in the previous month and $114.4 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Mexico in April with 31,631 mt, compared to 42,729 mt in March and 46,054 mt in April 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 6,850 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in April.
