According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 99,767 mt in April 2019, down 2.5 percent from March and down 16.3 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $114.4 million in April, compared to $114.5 million in the previous month and $128.7 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in April with 52,514 mt, compared to 59,734 mt in March and 68,344 mt in April 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 46,054 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in April.
