US HDG exports down 17.8 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 91,878 mt in September 2019, down 17.8 percent from August and down 3.7 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $103.5 million in September, compared to $124.7 million in the previous month and $105.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in September with 57,663 mt, compared to 61,789 mt in August and 54,340 mt in September 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 32,555 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in September.
