US HDG exports down 16.1 percent in July

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 89,786 mt in July 2018, down 16.1 percent from June and down 6.3 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $99.7 million in July, compared to $117.9 million in the previous month and $99.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in July with 47,193 mt, compared to 64,010 mt in June and 45,406 mt in July 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 41,260 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in July.
