According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 90,722 mt in December 2019, down 11.5 percent from November but up 17.8 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $97.9 million in December, compared to $111.5 million in the previous month and $87.5 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most HDG to Mexico in December with 45,721 mt, compared to 44,259 mt in November and 34,764 mt in December 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 43,696 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in December.
