US drawn wire imports up 26.4 percent in January

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 56,212 mt in January 2019, up 26.4 percent from December. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $69.1 million in January 2019, compared to $55.9 million in the previous month.

The US imported the most drawn wire from China in January, with 13,430 mt, compared to 12,200 mt in December. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in January include Mexico, with 11,350 mt; Canada, with 11,139 mt; Korea, with 5,273 mt; Japan, with 3,679 mt; and Vietnam, with 2,389 mt.
