US drawn wire imports up 12.7 percent in October

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 52,723 mt in October 2018, up 12.7 percent from September but down 4.9 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $64.6 million in October 2018, compared to $57.5 million in the previous month and $62.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most drawn wire from China in October, with 16,216 mt, compared to 12,536 mt in September and 10,033 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in October include Canada, with 11,629 mt; Mexico, with 9,794 mt; Japan, with 3,462 mt; and Korea, with 2,953 mt.
