According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 38,931 mt in December 2019, up 0.9 percent from November but down 12.5 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $46.3 million in December 2019, compared to $46.1 million in the previous month and $55.9 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in December, with 11,316 mt, compared to 10,833 mt in November and 8,949 mt in December 2018. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in December include Canada, with 10,555 mt; China, with 6,814 mt; Korea, with 1,921 mt; and Japan, with 1,790 mt.
