According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of drawn wire totaled 4,567 mt in December 2018, down 29.3 percent from November and down 37.9 percent from December 2017 levels. By value, drawn wire exports totaled $10.3 million in December, compared to $15.3 million in the previous month and $13.8 million in December 2017.
The US shipped the most drawn wire to Canada in December with 1,865 mt, compared to 2,304 mt in November and 3,136 mt in December 2017. Other destinations include Mexico, with 1,784 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US drawn wire exports in December.
As for the full-year 2018, US drawn wire exports totaled 84,459 mt, down 13.6 percent from 2017 totals. By value, drawn wire exports totaled $181.9 million in 2018, compared to $193.4 million in 2017.
