On January 21, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced that it intends to rescind its administrative review of the antidumping (AD) duty order against certain circular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes from Taiwan.

On July 1, 2008, the DOC had initiated the administrative review of the AD duty order against certain circular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes from Taiwan in response to the request of a domestic producer, Allied Tube Conduit Corporation. The administrative review covered one company, Yieh Hsing Enterprise Co., Ltd (Yieh Hsing), for the period May 1, 2007, through April 30, 2008.

Accordingly, the DOC preliminarily determined that Yieh Hsing had no shipments of the subject merchandise during the period of review upon which to assess antidumping duty, and thus the DOC intends to rescind the administrative review.

The merchandise covered by the order is certain circular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes from Taiwan, which are defined as, welded carbon steel pipes and tubes, of circular cross section, with walls not thinner than 0.065 inch, and 0.375 inch or more but not over 4.5 inches in outside diameter, currently classified under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the US (HTSUS) item numbers 7306.30.5025, 7306.30.5032, 7306.30.5040, and 7306.30.5055.

The DOC will issue its final decision concerning the conduct of the review no later than 120 days from the date of publication of the preliminary results.
