US cut-length plate imports up 93.8 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 57,265 mt in April 2019, up 93.8 percent from March and up 0.4 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $50.1 million in April 2018, compared to $27.9 million in the previous month and $48.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Korea in April, with 32,924 mt, compared to 4,494 mt in March and 20,209 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in April include Canada, with 9,008 mt; Ukraine, with 8,490 mt; Denmark, with 1,621 mt; and Mexico, with 1,363 mt.
