US cut-length plate imports up 57.6 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 50,652 mt in July 2019, up 57.6 percent from June and up 42.0 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $44.5 million in July 2019, compared to $27.3 million in the previous month and $34.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Korea in July, with 24,760 mt, compared to 3,788 mt in June and 10,002 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in July include Canada, with 11,305 mt; Macedonia with 5,464 mt; Sweden, with 2,026 mt; and Belgium, with 1,443 mt.
