US cut-length plate imports up 3.7 percent in September

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 46,768 mt in September 2018, up 3.7 percent from August but down 18.6 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $38.7 million in September 2018, compared to $37.8 million in the previous month and $39.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Korea in September, with 26,660 mt, compared to 24,573 mt in August and 14,062 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in September include Canada, with 6,295 mt; Denmark, with 3,898 mt; Sweden, with 1,326 mt; Belgium, with 1,290 mt; and Finland, with 1,150 mt.
