US cut-length plate imports up 18.5 percent in October

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 51,217 mt in October 2018, up 18.5 percent from September and down 22.8 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $45.3 million in October 2018, compared to $38.7 million in the previous month and $46.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Korea in October, with 32,707 mt, compared to 26,660 mt in September and 16,660 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in October include Canada, with 8,094 mt; Ukraine, with 4,985 mt; Sweden, with 1,107 mt; and Belgium, with 1,098 mt.
