US cut-length plate imports down 33.5 percent in October

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 20,361 mt in October 2019, down 33.5 percent from September and down 60.2 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $17.3 million in October 2019, compared to $26.3 million in the previous month and $45.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in October, with 15,858 mt, compared to 16,525 mt in September and 8,094 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in October include Korea, with 1,414 mt; and Sweden, with 1,216 mt.
