US cut-length plate imports down 25.3 percent in June

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 32,146 mt in June 2019, down 25.3 percent from May but up 18.3 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $27.3 million in June 2019, compared to $39.0 million in the previous month and $26.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Malaysia in June, with 9,054 mt, compared to 1,886 mt in May and only 20 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in June include Canada, with 8,293 mt; Ukraine, with 4,644 mt; Korea, with 3,788 mt; and Denmark, with 1,810 mt.
