US cut-length plate exports up 26.8 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 69,698 mt in January 2020, up 26.8 percent from December but down 4.2 percent from January 2019 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $67.7 million in January, compared to $52.9 million in the previous month and $85.0 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in January with 32,960 mt, compared to 29,014 mt in December and 45,443 mt in January 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 31,811 mt; and Australia, with 4,063 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in January.
