US cut-length plate exports up 19.3 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 72,733 mt in January 2019, up 19.3 percent from December but down 6.7 percent from January 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $85.0 million in January, compared to $70.9 million in the previous month and $71.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in January with 45,443 mt, compared to 33,678 mt in December and 27,577 mt in January 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 25,190 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in January.
