US cut-length plate exports up 16.9 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 68,874 mt in May 2019, up 16.9 percent from April but down 12.3 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $77.6 million in May, compared to $69.7 million in the previous month and $85.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in May with 39,948 mt, compared to 34,337 mt in April and 35,059 mt in May 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 21,512 mt; Chile, with 2,642 mt; and Brazil, with 2,022 mt.
