US cut-length plate exports rise 24.5 percent in May

US exports of cut-length plate totaled 91,400 mt in May, up 24.5 percent from April but down 7.6 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $88.7 million in May, compared to $70.3 million in the previous month and $82.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in May with 52,742 mt, compared to 40,880 mt in April and 63,394 mt in May 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 30,097 mt; Sweden, with 2,700 mt; and Belgium, with 2,600 mt.
