US cut-length plate exports fall 9 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 86,870 mt in September, down 9.0 percent from August but up 2.9 percent from September 2016 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $83.2 million in September, compared to $91.3 million in the previous month and $76.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in September with 46,892 mt, compared to 52,299 mt in August and 40,570 mt in September 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 34,137 mt; Brazil, with 1,530 mt; Chile, with 1,294 mt; and Australia, with 1,026 mt.
