US cut-length plate exports drop 13.6 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 51,903 mt in March 2019, down 13.6 percent from February and down 35.4 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $61.9 million in March, compared to $72.7 million in the previous month and $82.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in March with 31,171 mt, compared to 33,036 mt in February and 33,982 mt in March 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 17,837 mt; and Sweden, with 1,110 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in March.
