US cut-length plate exports drop 10.6 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 77,954 mt in January 2018, down 10.6 percent from December and down 21.3 percent from January 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $71.6 million in January, compared to $77.4 million in the previous month and $82.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in January with 48,012 mt, compared to 46,390 mt in December and 49,977 mt in January 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 27,577 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in January.
