US cut-length plate exports down 5.4 percent in December

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 54,981 mt in December 2019, down 5.4 percent from November and down 9.9 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $52.9 million in December, compared to $56.4 million in the previous month and $70.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in December with 29,014 mt, compared to 31,615 mt in November and 33,678 mt in December 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 20,337 mt; China with 2,528 mt; and Sweden, with 1,624 mt.
