US cut-length plate exports down 4.1 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 65,498 mt in August 2019, down 4.1 percent from July and down 3.8 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $69.8 million in August, compared to $73.9 million in the previous month and $74.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in August with 39,273 mt, compared to 37,495 mt in July and 38,217 mt in August 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 24,219 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in August.
