US cut-length plate exports down 3.7 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 65,308 mt in May 2020, down 3.7 percent from April and down 5.2 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $58.1 million in May, compared to $63.4 million in the previous month and $77.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in May with 31,783 mt, compared to 29,179 mt in April and 21,512 mt in May 2019. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 26,509 mt; China, with 2,521 mt; Sweden, with 2,075 mt; and Australia, with 1,741 mt.
