US cut-length plate exports down 0.8 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 68,101 mt in August 2018, down 0.8 percent from July and down 28.7 percent from August 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $74.7 million in August, compared to $75.9 million in the previous month and $91.3 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in August with 38,217 mt, compared to 37,417 mt in July and 35,415 mt in August 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 24,740 mt; Australia, with 1,375 mt; and Sweden, with 1,054 mt.
