US cut length plate imports down 2.9 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut length plate totaled 30,633 mt in September 2019, down 2.9 percent from August and down 29.1 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, cut length plate imports totaled $26.3 million in September 2019, compared to $29.9 million in the previous month and $38.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut length plate from Canada in September, with 16,525 mt, compared to 14,402 mt in August and 6,295 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported cut length plate in September include Korea, with 9,897 mt.
