US crude steel output falls-Mar 26, 2005

US domestic crude steel production for the week ending March 26, 2005, was 2.03 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 89.6%. Last year's production during the same period was 2.13 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 94.4%. The past week's production represents a 4.7% year-on-year decrease. Production for the week ending March 26, 2005, was up 0.3% from the previous week, when production was 2.02 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 89.3%. Year-to-date production through March 26, 2005, was 24.77 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 90.1%. That is 0.2% increase from the 24.72 million net tons during the same period last year.
