US crude steel output falls-Mar 12, 2005

US domestic crude steel production for the week ending March 12, 2005, was 2.01 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 88.7%. Last year's production during the same period was 2.05 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 91.1%. The past week's production represents a 2.2% year-on-year decrease. Production for the week ending March 12, 2005, was down 0.5% from the previous week, when production was 2.02 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 89.1%. Year-to-date production through March 12, 2005, was 20.72 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 90.2%. That is 1.0% increase from the 20.52 million net tons during the same period last year.
