US CRC imports up 6.4 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of CRC totaled 143,030 mt in October 2018, up 6.4 percent from September but down 28.7 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $122.9 million in October 2018, compared to $117.5 million in the previous month and $152.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in October, with 28,390 mt, compared to 27,594 mt in September and 31,605 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported CRC in October include Vietnam, with 22,728 mt; Australia, with 21,188 mt; Turkey, with 16,072 mt; Mexico, with 15,472 mt; and Netherlands, with 7,558 mt.
