US CRC imports up 23.7 percent in December

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 116,088 mt in December 2019, up 23.7 percent from November but down 8.7 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $87.9 million in December 2019, compared to $76.0 million in the previous month and $80.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in December, with 42,898 mt, compared to 39,609 mt in November and 18,315 mt in December 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in December include Australia, with 23,974 mt; Mexico, with 16,441 mt; Netherlands, with 9,313 mt; and Korea, with 4,885 mt.
