US CRC imports up 13.6 percent in May

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 111,136 mt in May 2020, up 13.6 percent from April but down 1.9 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $82.4 million in May 2020, compared to $71.5 million in the previous month and $94.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Australia in May, with 28,246 mt, compared to 20,532 mt in April and 17,134 mt in May 2019. Other top sources of imported CRC in May include Canada, with 22,771 mt; Mexico, with 20,352 mt; Korea, with 10,173 mt; and Vietnam, with 6,500 mt.
