US CRC imports up 12.2 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 118,510 mt in March 2019, up 12.2 percent from February but down 39.7 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $96.4 million in March 2018, compared to $86.9 million in the previous month and $154.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in March, with 26,226 mt, compared to 25,583 mt in February and 36,389 mt in March 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in March include Australia, with 16,264 mt; Mexico, with 16,088 mt; Vietnam, with 13,945 mt; Russia, with 11,223 mt; and United Kingdom, with 6,584 mt.
