US CRC imports up 10.5 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 130,992 mt in April 2019, up 10.5 percent from March but down 34.0 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $103.5 million in April 2018, compared to $96.4 million in the previous month and $158.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in April, with 26,216 mt, compared to 26,226 mt in March and 38,549 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in April include Vietnam, with 24,893 mt; Mexico, with 22,231 mt; Australia, with 14,183 mt; and Korea, with 12,715 mt.
