US CRC imports up 0.9 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 114,113 mt in September 2019, up 0.9 percent from August and down 15.1 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $87.4 million in September 2019, compared to $88.6 million in the previous month and $117.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in September, with 46,847 mt, compared to 31,706 mt in August and 27,594 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in September include Australia, with 20,576 mt; Mexico, with 16,520 mt; Vietnam, with 10,992 mt; and Korea, with 5,353 mt.
