US CRC imports rise 9.7 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 200,687 mt in October 2017, up 9.7 percent from September and up 5.9 percent from October 2016 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $152.1 million in October 2017, compared to $139.2 million in the previous month and $135.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Turkey in October, with 36,948 mt, compared to 21,371 mt in September and 21,446 mt in October 2016. Other top sources of imported CRC in October include Canada, with 31,605 mt; Russia, with 30,526 mt; Mexico, with 20,834 mt; Australia, with 14,798 mt; and Korea, with 10,891 mt.
