US CRC imports rise 1.6 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports cold rolled sheets totaled 191,801 mt in April 2017, up 1.6 percent from March and up 31.6 percent from April 2016 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $142.4 million in April 2017, compared to $134.1 million in the previous month and $96.2 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most CRC from Russia in April, with 118,982 mt, compared to 47,192 mt in March and no tonnage in April 2016. Other top sources of imported CRC in April include Canada, with 27,061 mt; Mexico, with 19,398 mt; Australia, with 16,747 mt; Sweden, with 13,325 mt; and Turkey, with 12,964 mt.
