US CRC imports drop 8.1 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 133,043 mt in February 2018, down 8.1 percent from January and down 32.3 percent from February 2017 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $107.1 million in February 2018, compared to $114.3 million in the previous month and $132.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in February, with 28,181 mt, compared to 31,751 mt in January and 28,819 mt in February 2017. Other top sources of imported CRC in February include Mexico, with 15,211 mt; Australia, with 14,059 mt; Vietnam, with 13,684 mt; Turkey, with 11,180 mt; and Russia, with 8,942 mt.
