US CRC imports down 3.2 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 97,814 mt in April 2020, down 3.2 percent from March and down 27.2 percent from April 2019 levels. By value CRC imports totaled $71.5 million in April 2020, compared to $79.1 million in the previous month and $105.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in April, with 33,357 mt, compared to 43,363 mt in March and 26,219 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported CRC in April include Mexico, with 21,669 mt; Australia, with 20,532 mt; Korea, with 4,942 mt; and Netherlands, with 3,862 mt.
