US CRC imports down 28.4 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 75,268 mt in February 2023, down 28.4 percent from January and down 38.1 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $77.9 million in February 2023, compared to $110.0 million in January and $187.9 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in February, with 35,822 mt, compared to 34,589 mt in January and 42,030 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported CRC in February include Mexico, with 17,398 mt; Sweden, with 4,293 mt; Brazil, with 4,175 mt; and Belgium, with 3,708 mt.
