US cold finished bar imports up 0.4 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 10,601 mt in July 2019, up 0.4 percent from June but down 34.3 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $16.1 million in July 2019, compared to $15.2 million in the previous month and $22.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cold finished bar from Germany in July, with 2,442 mt, compared to 2,297 mt in June and 2,852 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in July include Italy, with 1,873 mt; Canada, with 1,620 mt; and Spain, with 1,299 mt.
