US cold finished bar exports up 35.9 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold finished bar totaled 8,244 mt in January 2020, up 35.9 percent from December but down 0.1 percent from January 2019 levels. By value, cold finished bar exports totaled $19.4 million in January, compared to $14.5 million in the previous month and $18.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cold finished bar to Mexico in January with 3,721 mt, compared to 2,671 mt in December and 3,576 mt in January 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 3,492 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cold finished bar exports in January.
