US cold finished bar exports down 9.1 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold finished bar totaled 7,055 mt in August 2019, down 9.1 percent from July and down 19.9 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar exports totaled $16.8 million in August, compared to $19.7 million in the previous month and $19.3 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cold finished bar to Mexico in August with 3,255 mt, compared to 3,439 mt in July and 8,696 mt in August 2018. Other destinations include Canada, with 2,897 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cold finished bar exports in August.
