US cold finished bar exports down 3.4 percent in December

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold finished bar totaled 6,068 mt in December 2019, down 3.4 percent from November and down 17.9 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar exports totaled $14.5 million in December, compared to $15.7 million in the previous month and $17.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cold finished bar to Mexico in December with 2,671 mt, compared to 2,798 mt in November and 3,323 mt in December 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 2,444 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cold finished bar exports in December.
