US beam exports rise 12.2 percent in February

US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 38,755 mt in February, up 12.2 percent from January and up 5.9 percent from February 2016 levels. By value, beam exports totaled $34.9 million in February, compared to $30.9 million in the previous month and $31.9 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most beams to Canada in February, with 33,184 mt, compared to 28,563 mt in January and 25,743 mt in February 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 3,891 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US beam exports in February.
