US and Canadian steel service center shipments rise in May

Steel service center shipments continued to display an every-other-month growth pattern with healthy growth in both the United States and Canada in May, according to a report from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).
 
In May 2017, US service center steel shipments increased by 7.0 percent from May 2016. Steel product inventories decreased 4.5 percent from May a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products increased by 6.8 percent in May 2017 from May 2016. Steel product inventories decreased 3.5 percent from May a year ago.
