US and Canadian steel service center shipments decrease in April

Steel shipments declined by small amounts in both the United States and Canada in April, reversing the increases posted in March, according to a report today from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).
 
In April 2017, US service center steel shipments decreased by 4.2 percent from April 2016. Steel product inventories decreased 6.0 percent from April a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products decreased by 2.8 percent in April 2017 compared to April 2016. Steel product inventories decreased 10.0 percent from April a year ago.
