Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 11, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 856 rigs following a five-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 143, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 712. The overall rig count is now down by 207 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by two to 146 rigs in the week ending October 11, following a 17-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 49 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
